Chamber Board of Directors meeting

During the June Chamber Board of Directors meeting the following items were discussed:

Karen Gallagher made a presentation to the board on the Athena Award and the board voted to continue supporting this worthwhile award. The Industrial Team reported that a schedule and date have been set and the first session will be on August 30th, addressing Health Insurance issues. It was reported that the schedule will be put on the web-site soon. The Governmental Affairs Team (GA) discussed with the board about the fall election, the Route 6 sign and the zoneing issue along with encourging candidates to run for election in the fall. With a few of these issues the GA team felt that legal council will need to be sought. The board discussed the upocoming issues with the Chamber Gift Certificate Program. With the current state laws, some minor changes will need to be made and it was decided that the Executive Director along with the Finance Team will address these in July. The Mural Funds donation from Wal*Mart was discussed and the board agreed that this is a Downtown Bryan Inc. issue. Bringing a fountain back on the square was also discussed. The board agreed that this needs to be looked into, and will work with DBI's board to accomplish this goal. Other smaller discussions were held on a Past President's Reception, New/Replacement of Board Members for the end of the year, the Top 10% banquet and Marching Bands within the Jubilee Parade.
